The Great Brain Robbery was Cheapass Games #028, in 2000, and was our very first game in the trademark one-piece box. We listed the game in a Gen Con ad in early 2000, despite not having written it yet, because James said “If I can’t make a game called The Great Brain Robbery in six months, there’s something wrong with me.”
Well, (a) of course there is, and (b) he did it anyway. The game takes place in the Old West, where a cadre of wild zombies have decided to rob a train full of brains. It took them a while to figure out that any train filled with passengers is also a train full of brains. But now here we are.
Starting at the caboose and racing forward to the engine, you’ll try to find the smartest brains you can stick in your head, to outsmart and outrun the other zombies and be the first to crash the train. Because that makes sense if you think about it with no brain.
The Great Brain Robbery has a few mechanical problems, like a somewhat endless endgame, but it’s still a fun game and one of these days James Ernest will spend another six months fixing it. In the meantime, this original edition is yours to print, play, and enjoy!
