Fish Cook

Fish Cook is one of those decidedly simple games with a quirky theme. You’re all chefs, competing to make the most money (and acclaim) with the best recipes for fish.

Each morning you’ll visit the Farmer’s Market and the Fish Market, looking for the best ingredients (or at least, the cheapest ones). Then you’ll spend the evening cooking. It might be an old family recipe, something you learned from the school, or something you stole from another player!

Fish Cook was part of a short series of white-box games from 2013 called the “Spring Three,” and we had every intent of making a fully deluxe version in 2020, had we not sold Cheapass Games in 2019.

Now the game is back in our hands, and while we condier how to make it better, we’d like to share the version we have now.

Components: For now, we are offering just a free print-and-play version of Fish Cook, whilst we order proofs from DriveThruCards for the print-on-demand version. Soon we’ll send that version to our Coconut Crabs (on Patreon), and soon thereafter, we’ll also make it available for sale.

The special components of Fish Cook are the boards, cards, and rules. You can use basic colored tokens, or you can print our special ones (these are strictly optional).

Along with these pieces, you will also need:

  • Money, about $250 per player;

  • Counters in six colors matching the farmer’s market (or the token sheets above)

  • Twelve 6-sided dice for the fish market;

  • Ideally, at least one more die for the farmer’s market;

  • One Chef Token

  • A die or other means of tracking the day

You can check out some links at the bottom of our Games Page for hints about how to find some of these components, or you can steal them from games you don’t really like any more.

The rulebook includes notes about how to make the boards and cards. You can also refer to our videos on the topic:

We are looking forward to sharing Fish Cook with you again, and we’ll be posting more content and videos as we get the product back in shape. Thanks for playing!
