#Rummageables 3,

April 2022

A blast from the East! This month’s #Rummageables game features a rare Japanese copy of the Cheapass game Renfield.

First released in 1999, this card game about gravediggers eating bugs featured a novel 3-suited deck and several variations, in the style of Dealer’s Choice Poker. This strange little game got even stranger when our Japanese partners got hold of it, and we found one copy of that edition when we were cleaning up the basement.

This is the original black and white deck, with some subtle colors added to distinguish the suits, and a folding cardboard tuck box that is at once flimsy and cheap. (Their version of the familiar paper envelope, no doubt.) It also comes with rules entirely in Japanese, but we will also make sure the winner has access to the English rules.

To win this deck, please take a photo of any James Ernest game on any retail store shelf. (It doesn’t have to belong there!) You’ll get points for creativity, but points don’t matter, because we always choose our winners at random.

Post your photos to @crabfragment Twitter, with the hashtag #Rummageables3, between now and April 30, and remember to subscribe to the Crab Fragment mailing list for all the newest news from this overflowing font of games.

For even more points that don’t matter, include James Ernest in the photo.

#Rummageables Entry Form

Welcome to Crab Fragment Labs! This is James Ernest’s personal playground, filled with amazing new games, articles, artwork, and more. If you’re new here, please take a look around.

From time to time, we give away random stuff from the Crab Fragment Basement, through our #rummageables drawings. This is usually the entry form for that.

However, since this month’s game is based on posting photos to Twitter, you don’t really need to use the entry form. We’re still figuring out how all this works.

You can read about past games on our blog page.

Prizes ship free to US addresses only. See below for more game rules.

The Fine Print: Winners will be chosen randomly from the pool of qualified entries.

No purchase and no subscription is necessary to win. Past winners are ineligible for three months. Crab Fragment Family, Staff, Partners, Friends, and Hangers-On are ineligible, at least until they become Sworn Enemies. We will add a Sworn Enemy form to this page when it becomes necessary.

Prizes ship free to US addresses only. If you are not in the US, you can own your prize from a distance, or work with us on shipping. Or you can be content to own a JPEG of your prize, like an NFT that is neither non-fungible nor a token.

Thanks for playing!
