Doctor Sweet’s Carnival of Chocolate Horrors
A board game of children, candy, and consequences.
Candy: The ever-sweet fluffy stuff of dreams. Doctor Sweet’s Carnival of Chocolate Horrors is a strange attraction in the center of your quaint European village, and the magical candy queen is offering an infinite supply of candy to the youngster who can best her diabolical games.
Doctor Sweet’s Carnival of Chocolate Horrors is a new board game from James Ernest and Crab Fragment Labs, and it just might be our first crowdfunded game. This page has the latest open beta version, still in early development.
Doctor Sweet’s is a refreshingly simple track-based board game with some interesting challenges and decisions. Here are the files you’ll need to make your own copy:
Doctor Sweet Game Board (v2.3, 1/21/25)
Doctor Sweet Cards (v2.3 1/21/25)
Doctor Sweet Dice Labels and conversion chart (v2.32, 1/21/25)
Doctor Sweert Rules (v2.32, 1/21/25)
In addition to the above, you will need the following components:
Pawns for every player
Candy Tokens in red, blue, green, yellow, and purple (15 of each)
Six 6-sided dice, ideally stickered with the dice label sheet above.
A Note on the Board: This board is designed to be 10” square, but it can be printed at any size. At full size, the yellow rectangles will be large enough to hold carnival games. If you make it smaller, like we do (to fit in our bag of games), you can place the carnival games outside the corners of the board.
A Note on the Dice: Stickering dice is not easy, but it can be worth it. However, you can also use normal dice. The Dice Label file includes a chart that will help you convert ordinary dice to the game colors.
Video Links: We have some basic how-to-make videos that turn out to be our best-loved videos on YouTube. Here are links for making your own boards and cards.

What’s Next for Doctor Sweet? We hope you’ll give these components a look, and maybe even a test. Our goal is either to find a publisher for this game, or possibly crowdfund it ourselves. The landscape is always changing and we are never sure if getting back into the publishing racket is the right move. Meanwhile, please print and play this beta version, and let us know what you think!
